GROUP LOTUS RENEWS NEW VEHICLE DISTRIBUTION CONTRACT WITH ONTIME AUTOMOTIVE
Lotus Cars has renewed its European distribution contract with Ontime Automotive, and also awarded the company its UK distribution contract. Ontime will deliver the Elise and the Exige to Lotus’ dealership network, using its own covered car transporter fleet – the largest in Europe – for deliveries to Continental Europe, and drawing on the entire Ontime Automotive fleet resource for UK-wide deliveries.
Ontime, which provides bespoke vehicle preparation and distribution services for prestige and volume manufacturers alike, has worked with Lotus Cars since the early 1980s. Since then, when the company was delivering the Lotus Excel, the Elan and the Esprit, Ontime Automotive has distributed to markets throughout Europe, forming a seamless link between the Lotus production line in Hethel and the European dealer network.
Ontime Group Managing Director, David Brinklow, commented: “I am delighted that in appointing a solus supplier for the first time Lotus Cars has chosen Ontime as their single supplier for all UK and European new car deliveries. Ontime Automotive is developing rapidly; today my team and I are able to offer Lotus Cars the same small company customer focus and accountability that they have enjoyed for over twenty years supported by the efficiencies of large company resources, which will ensure the success of this contract.”
Total support for the automotive industry and vehicle retailing sector
In addition to handling UK and European-wide new car distribution for Lotus Cars, Ontime Automotive’s Specialist Transport division delivers all Aston Martin and McLaren SLR products worldwide. Other automotive clients include BMW Alpina, Bentley, Morgan, Honda and Ford Motor Company. The company moves 700,000 vehicles a year with operations ranging from high-volume distribution to used vehicle refurbishment. Ontime Automotive’s 120-strong covered car transporter fleet, the largest in Europe, has carrying capacities of one to six cars. The company operates a further 230 open transporters in the UK and Europe, with carrying capacities of up to thirteen vehicles, for volume vehicle distribution. Responding to trends in the premium sports car market, recent investments in the fleet include engineering modifications to accommodate lower, wider and heavier vehicles.
